This was not to be as the Huskies had a knack for being all over the field and disrupting the warriors pattern of play. Trailing 8-5 at half, the ruggers fought back to out score Bloomsburg two tries to one in the second. The difference in this the match was the goal kicking. ESU WINS! EPRU D2 Champs!

The men of ESU have won the EPRU D2 Title today. The Warriors defeated long time rival Albright College. In a tightly played match the kicks made all the difference. ESU was able to convert the one conversion and three penalties it attempted today. Starting off the scoring today was Walter Rada with a penalty run through the Lions defense. Pele then took over from there with his foot to go 4/4 on kicks. Walter also came up big as time was winding and Albright within five meters of the try line. Walt was able to poach the ball at the breakdown to secure the match and win. The team is now on break until the spring. Where they will start preparing for MARFU playoffs in March.

EPRU FINALS NEXT!

The ruggers needed overtime, but pulled off a 13-10 win over a very determined team from St. Joe's. In a match played in typical Pocono weather, rain, mud, and small lakes on the field. The Warriors seemed in control from the kickoff and scored in the first two minutes. From there they looked as though they would roll onto victory. But soon the weather caught up to the men of ESU and numerous knock-ons and other ball handling errors cost the team future scores. With the back and forth match of possession the ruggers held onto a narrow 10-5 lead with less then 8 minutes on the clock. St. Joes struck back and scored in the corner to tie up the match. Since the match could not be decided in regulation, the teams embarked on the journey called overtime. There was no score in the first period of OT. Both teams were playing very tight as not to do anything that could them the match. In the second period of overtime though St. Joe's had  two penalties deep in their half. The first attempt at points for ESU went wide. But the second one was true as the men now took the lead. The ruggers then held on during the final minute of the match as time expired. With the win the Men will now contend for the EPRU D2 title next Saturday. Their opponent will be the always tough Albright College. Men Start League Season 2-0

The ruggers have started their league season with two wins out of two. First up was the University of Scranton. The warriors controlled the match from the start and never looked back. The highlight of match was definitely the ref. Not sure his name... but he was the best I've ever seen patrolling the pitch with a whistle. Final score ESU 75 Scranton 5. Next up was Bloomsburg University. Bloom always known as a very proud and scrappy team, showed why they have that reputation. They battled for every ball, ran hard in space, and tackled everything in sight. They proved this by holding ESU to 7-7 at half. During the 2nd half the warriors finally started  to gel and ran in 5 tries and connected on two penalty kicks, while holding Bloom scoreless. Final score 42-7. ESU has the weekend off and will be back on the pitch on the October 13th. They will play host to Shippensburg University. Kickoff is set for 1pm. Men Hang Tough with Kutztown

The Men hosted the Golden Bears of Kutztown this past Saturday. The Warriors were looking to test their meddle before opening league play next week. Kutztown came into this match ranked #10 in the nation in the latest D1 rankings. After twenty minutes into the match the score was deadlocked at zero. Both teams at this point appeared evenly matched. However this would change in the favor of K-town as the match wore on. The Golden Bears began to take advantage of their strength. Which in this match was the open phase ball and creating overloads for both their backs and forwards. ESU for their part were able to shut down a lot of Kutztown's set pieces. As they wheeled a number of their put ins and disrupted a lineout or two. Another part that also stood out for the Warriors was how they did not back down at all during this match. They continued to fight through out and finally crossed the try line to erase the shut out.  Final score was ESU 5 Kutztown 46. With the preseason now the over.
